God is Dwelling Place

“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him . . . He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him” (Psalm 91:14a, 15).

Dear Praying Friends:

God promises to hear and answer the prayers of those who call to him in trouble. That’s us!

Shall we believe his words, or our “world” – the worlds within us and outside us, all clamoring for our attention and trust?

Of course, this promise, like most in Scripture, has conditions attached. It is given to those who have “made the LORD, . . . even the Most High, [their] dwelling place,” who have set their love upon Him, who know [acknowledge and believe in] his name, who call upon him, who trust in him (verses 9, 14-15, 2).

And, of course, we are not assured of a pain-free life, or of deliverance from all difficulties, but of God’s presence, provision, power, and final exaltation of those who trust in Christ (see Isaiah 41:10; 43:2; Matthew 28:20; Romans 8:18, 28-30).

“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me” (Psalm 50:15).

Yours in the one who hears and answers our prayers,
Wright
